So I´ve been here for dos semanas and the time is just flying by, its incredile how friendly and kind the people here are and how beautiful the cities. The language is still a barrier for me but I try not to let that stand in my way, and I hope that soon I´ll be able to truly understand the people here and the way of life. There are a few things I am already to well acustumed to… like the fiestas that start at 11 and end with the sunrise… and a nap in the afternoon. Also here there is a different culture surrounding smoking, something I´m not used to and a habit I want to avoid… But the temptation is always there at a party, in the street, anywhere really waiting to jump out and get me… I´m constantly thinking, cancer, cancer, cancer, in an effort to stop myself. Aside from this I´ve really enjoyed my time here, and look foward to the future.
THis has been one Hell of a week! After a plane ride of god knows how many hours, and one nights sleep there was the bigest Teremoto in Chile in 25 years! Just my luck!
Fortunetely my hostfamily is fine and no one I know was injured, but my heart goes out to the rest of this country, in the aftermath of one of the top 5 earthquakes ever recorded.
I”m so excited and terrified, I can’t wait to put my feet on that tarmac and realize that I’ve actually done it, I’m actually in Chile and this year is really going to happen. At the moment I’m still in disbelief and I’m anxious about my Spanish, people tell me I’ll pick it up fast…. but they’re not travelling to the otherside of the world for a year!
I guess its time to step off the cliff and hope to god someone set up a tramapline down there!
